Not that Mary Poppins hasn't been an important figure in my life, thanks to the magic of the movie. The movie, I understand, is different (I haven't seen it). He appears slightly lost. I just wanted to get through the story to see if she would change any from the vain and frankly, mean, woman that she started out to be. A classic children's tale that doesn't suck. Note that the great children's classics are loved and re-read by adults who first read them as kids (or had them read aloud). My mom read me many classic children's novels when I was a kid, and then I discovered some on my own in later years, but this is one that somehow slipped through the cracks.

I think my copy was the Walt Disney version and based on the movie with Julie Andrews, which made Mary Poppins not quite so temperamental!

Read on if you want my thoughts on specific chapters and more detailed comparisons between the book and the movie but it will contain SPOILERS...I was totally mesmerized by the Mary Poppins books as a child and I remember sitting in the library (it was a kind of nursery for me with my mum being the librarian :) reading and re-reading them any time I could get my hands on them (they were popular and in demand - not easy to get). This book is 1000% my aesthetic, and I love it to the moon and back. Oyuncular: This was one of my favorite books when I was a kid. Travers… This book was all wrong and not what i had expected it to be and i would like to share my thoughts and feelings with you.
